"Good morning, evening, afternoon- whatever time it is where you are when you're calling- this is Winston Zeddemore speaking. ...I've got other things to tend to at the moment, so just leave me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can."
7/31 or 8/1
Within hours of contacting Winston for the first time in months, Venkman got on the train to Saffron and flew to the rest of the way to Pallet town. In a surprising display of intellect (and probably one of the last uses of his confiscated brain cell), he swapped his party around ahead of time so that most of his team would know Fly. Don't have to worry about taking a break because your Pokemon is exhausted from flying non-stop if you can immediately swap to a different one once the first starts to tire.
The unfortunate side-effect to that is that of his five flight-capable Pokemon, one outright hates him and another is just plain aggressive. Riding on the Critics while they're flying really does make Venkman feel like any second now he's gonna plummet to his not-death. Luckily, he's had almost eight months to get used to their shit, and he rarely gets bucked off anymore.
Eight months.
More than half a year without Winston. And from Winston's perspective, it's only been a few days.
Christ.
Venkman's been hanging around Pallet Town's docks for a few hours now. Not always literally at the docks- for now, he's at the nearby inn, which is... a little disorienting. The last time he was here, it wasn't even New Years yet. The whole town was covered in thick blankets of snow, and he'd only just caught his first non-egg Pokemon- a tiny fire bird.
Now it's a warm summer day, half of this tiny little town is at the farmer's market, and that tiny fire bird has grown into a powerhouse of a hawk, currently perched on the inn's roof, keeping an eye out for the approaching ferry.
The more time passes, the more anxious Venkman is. Eventually, he opens his Pokegear again to send probably the 100th message Winston's gotten from him today:]
if that ferry's late im gonna go fucking crazy i think

[It's a picture taken from the deck of the ship. The camera's documenting it from Winston's point of view so sadly Venkman will still have to wait just a little bit more to see his face again... but those are definitely the docks of Pallet Town, clearly visible on the horizon. And since he's constantly getting closer every second, he might just about be there by the time Peter opens it.]

The Talonflame preens her primary feathers from her spot on the roof- she fulfilled what was asked of her and called out when the ferry appeared on the horizon, so as far as she's concerned, her job here is done. She'll wait here until her trainer remembers to recall her. Or maybe she'll fly away and live in the woods around here for the rest of her life, tormenting all the little Bug Catchers that dare enter her territory. Whichever.
Luckily, the docks aren't too far from the inn- a 5-minute walk at best, and he's certainly not walking. He gets there, probably with time to spare- it'll probably take some time for the passengers to get off the boat.
Now it's the waiting game again. Though there's not a lot of waiting left to sit through.]

[As the boat comes up to the docks, he moves back down below the deck to the ferry's first floor, getting ready to disembark from the vessel at last.]
[His eyes light up seeing Peter on the docks, and Winston wants, more than anything, to call out to him- but his nerves strangle the words until they die in his throat. Heart wrenching with tension, every step he takes towards him makes his pulse thud throughout his body. Struggling to keep his breath steady, he tries to keep his cool, tries to board the docks calmly, tries to keep himself unobtrusive to the other passengers leaving ship, even though the anticipation of seeing Peter again is so overwhelming it feels like he might collapse on the spot.]
[And it's only been three days. Two of them, they were in contact.]
[He can't imagine what it must be like for him.]
[Winston suddenly stumbles, as his feet move faster without his forethought.]
no subject
And eventually, he finds him.]
Winston.
[Softly, almost reverently, and way too quiet to be heard.]
Winston!
[Far, far louder, because unlike Winston, Venkman errs more on the side of too much noise instead of not enough.
Bond watches with idle curiosity as this scene plays out far below her- her idiot trainer charging into a crowd of tired and weary passengers.]
no subject
[They lightly crash into each other, Winston's arms wrap around him the same way they have so many times before, holding Venkman in a familiar firm embrace.]
[His face finds a place resting comfortably in the crook of his neck, his breaths brush against Peter's skin, slowly shifting from short and shaky to deep and relieved.]
[...and he takes this chance to sneak a few subtle kisses in along Peter's neckline- a gesture that's imperceptible to onlookers, obscured by the way Winston's nestling his face deeper against his partner's collar. Doing even this much publicly feels like pressing his luck... but he's willing to take that risk right now.]

WINSTON!!!
I'M COMING TO RESCUE YOU FROM VENKMAN, HOLD ON!!!
[It's fine.]

I'm not in any danger? This is a Library no one's gonna disrupt the silence of the place just to break our ribs.
I think.
no subject
He's evil and must be stopped!
... Also what library are you in?
no subject
Actually, no- you're completely on the money. I'm your archetypal passive romantic lead and Peter's the love interest that won me over with his dashing looks, impeccable wit, and outrageous stash of cat cash. We were both young fools who rushed into a wedding to marry our family's fortunes together, and now decades down the line I'm trapped in a loveless marriage with him, kicking myself as I hopelessly pine after my two equally handsome but significantly less loaded suitors, and wondering What Could Have Been...
"My dearest Raymond and Egon, I must deeply apologize to you both. Were I to have the chance to rewrite the pages in the book of my life, I would have made it so that I had confessed my feelings towards you while I lived... but alas- you must discover I requited your affections only after my passing. Through this posthumous note I've left to you both, after succumbing to The Plague."
...we're in Viridian.

>:-(
Dang it.
I knew Venkman took you away from Pallet town.
I just really miss you, Win! :-( I love you so much and I feel like I haven't seen you in forever!
I miss kissing you and holding you in my arms and watching game shows with you.

Look, I just don't want you to feel like you have to compete with Pete for me. ...you don't need to do anything but be YOU, Ray, and I'll be happy to love you for it all the same.
(And the second you find me in the library I'm giving you full permission to drag me to the nearest TV set and we'll marathon quiz shows together. Doesn't matter what else I'm doing at the time, I'll drop it for you.)

8/24 or something
In an unconcerned tone, he says--]
Winston, do you have a moment? I need your brain.
no subject
Is it gonna stay inside my body, or are you taking it out. [He quips, dryly, as though he doesn't have a preference.]
no subject
[He gestures for Winston to follow, retreating back down the hallway to the kitchen, which had been convered into the makeshift laboratory.
As Winston draws closer, he might suddenly hear--well, not hear--but he'll get the distinct feeling of something else intruding on his brain. It's not malevolent by any means, but it does seem curious. Floating, foreign thoughts of "dad? new dad?" and "glasses serious egon" pass though his mind.
Eventually, these thoughts can be easily traced to the other being in the room--a floating green blob that doesn't resemble Slimer in the slightest, but is definitely a slimy baby. Kölliker, Egon's Reuniclus, twitches her ears and extends a feeling of delight.]
< new dad?????? >
no subject
[At the moment, he can't help but wonder what this is all leading up to- and what it has to do with the device Egon approached him with. Why he needs his brain... if it even has to be Winston's brain to begin with. What the repetition of "dad" is supposed to mean.]
[Then he catches sight of Kö, this weird little floating goo baby, and while her presence only raises more questions, he can't help but feel a small smile cross his lips seeing this thing.]
Aw... who's this little buddy, Egon? [He rests his hands on his hips, fondly looking between the two of them.]
no subject
[What follows is a mental imitation of Egon's voice, accompanied by brief flashes of curiosity, baby-like burbling, and an image of a textbook Egon once read about the purpose of the mitochondria.]
Yes--that's Kölliker. She has telepathic abilities, as you can see. She was sent to me when I first arrived to this dimension. Apparently, she is descended from the Pokémon starter that the other Egon had upon arriving here.
[He says this like he's talking about the weather, and doesn't explain what he means by..."other Egon". Egon approaches a toaster-sized machine on the table and starts fiddling with the dials. He holds out the weird device from earlier for Winston to take.]
Please put this over your head.
[Kö, meanwhile, floats over to Winston and reaches out her gooey hands to touch Winston's face. Just to get to know him.]
< you dad? >
no subject
[If he had to guess, he'd assume it's the latter. Because he's not sure why a telepath would need to ask questions if they could find the answers in people's minds themselves. ...although, admittedly, he's fuzzy on the details of how telepathy works, so who knows. Could be completely wrong about that.]
[As for the question himself, he's... not really sure how he's supposed to answer that, so he just quietly smiles and nods at her.]
[...which is roughly the same way he's reacting to being told to put this weird device on his head. Taking it in his hands and slipping it on, carefully brushing away the loose wires to make sure they don't get trapped between his hair and the inside of the helmet. He silently eyes the machine with some minor apprehension.]
...so, were you planning to tell me what it is I'm being tested for, or was that something I needed to ask for myself?

On Winston's Birthday
HEY WIN!!!🤗🤩🥰
Wanna meet up at that cute little cafe you like near the gym for lunch in a few minutes? 🍴🥪☕ My treat!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
[Please say yes don't leave the boy hanging.]
no subject
Sure thing❣️
Didn't have too big a breakfast this morning, so I'm up to being treated today. 😘
no subject
Love you Win!😍🥰😍
[In actuality Ray's been here for a half hour, making sure everything was ready. He picked a nice window seat, so they could have a nice view of the changing leaves, and he has two small packages with him, for certain probably obvious reasons.
Ray anxiously looks out the window for the slightest hint of Winston. He didn't even want to order anything while he waited because he didn't want to possibly ruin his outfit. (He did, however, order a hot chocolate for Pikachu, his Mimikyu, who was currently out of his containment unit and sitting next to Ray, gleefully drinking the chocolate.]
no subject
[Thankfully, it doesn't take him too long to get there. While he walks by the building, Winston catches a glimpse of Ray through the café's window and stops for a moment to give him a silent wave from outside before entering in through the front door. He's in his usual casual clothes- the blue two-tone t-shirt and jeans... and perched atop his shoulder is a chubby pikachu with a perpetually stoic, contemplative look on its face.]
Hey, would you look at that- we match! [Mycroft tilts his head at the comparison, looking between Winston and Pikachu with a quirked eyebrow.]
no subject
Ray practically jumps up when Winston waves at him, out of pure excitement. If they didn't live together, one would assume that they hadn't seen each other in months by how excited Ray is.
When Winston enters, Ray gets up and wraps Winston in a bear hug, kissing his cheek.]
Happy Birthday, Winston! I'm so glad we get to spend it together in this dimension!
[Pikachu, as if oblivious, cheerfully waves at Mycroft for a few moments, before realizing hat he should say hello.]
Pi...ka!
[God it does not sound natural for this boy to be saying that.]
no subject
Oh, wow! How did you know it's my birthday? [Okay, so his surprise is... Clearly faked, but his enthusiasm is wholly sincere. Being reminded that the days still move forward and they can make time for milestones like this- it's helping him feel grounded with all this ultra beast craziness going on around them.]
[...and in the middle of their embrace, Mycroft takes the opportunity to crawl across Winston's arm and perch himself onto Ray's shoulder. Planting an inquisitive paw on Ray's face, his ears and nose twitch as he looks over this strange man and his even stranger "pikachu", studying both their features thoughtfully.]
"Peek. Peek." [Mycroft mutters, in a voice distinctly- almost distressingly- deeper than you'd expect coming from a pikachu.] "Chu."
